The landscape is hilly. It is ideal for beautiful walks and nice bike rides. The "campagna" as the Italians call it, is sparsely populated and there is mainly agriculture with "erba medica", grain and sunflowers. In the months of May and June, when the grain is almost ripe and the sunflowers bloom, it looks beautiful. Besides agriculture, there are many wine and olive farmers who are happy to open their doors to the interested tourist and give them a generous taste of their delicacies.
There are many walled small fortresses in the vicinity of Senigallia. Old villages that invite you to stroll through for a morning. A small market, an espresso at the bar on the square or a "gelato" at the local ice cream shop. The village centers are often cozy and authentic. Friendly locals, old men on a bench in discussion with a lot of hand gesture ... wonderful to watch and listen.
